Bad Rabbit Studio have been producing impactful micro-length films and promotional videos throughout Southern Africa since 2015. In 2022, Bad Rabbit completed its first short format film titled ‘Gonarezhou, Return of the Black Rhino’. The 32 minute documentary has earned international acclaim, winning Best Africa Short at the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival in New York, Best Short Documentary at the International Nature and Environmental Protection Festival, Best Nature Documentary at the White Unicorn International Film Festival and an honourable mention at the Vaasa Vaasa Wildlife Film Festival. The film was named a finalist in the Global Voices Category at the 2022 Jackson Wild Media Awards, the so-called Oscars of environmental filmmaking. Audiences in Alaska, Austria, America, Canada, Chile, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India and Japan, in the numerous film festivals it has been shown around the world, have watched as the first black rhino, after an absence of thirty years, walked free into Gonarezhou National Park. In 2022, WaterBear signed a three-year distribution contract with Bad Rabbit Studio for the film.
